Stupid Blog Confirms Norwegian Stupidity
Today I stumbled upon an incredibly stupid (for want of better words and — given the blog’s, well… stupid tagline) Norwegian blog, labelling Americans… you guessed it, stupid; New York – New Dork (a remarkably clever title, that). But it gets worse.
It would appear that the blog’s chief (or only) purpose is to discredit the American people, for being inconceivably dense. Well that’s just rich, coming from a representative of (one of) the stupidest nations in the industrialised world. Granted, the United States beat us with infinitessimally small margins, but beat us still.
I know I shouldn’t get all worked up about something written by an obviously all too adolescent blogger (and I don’t), hadn’t it been for the fact that we actually deem Americans inferior, in terms of intellectual capacity. It’s been so for as long as I can remember, but pivoted after president George W. Bush junior’s inauguration – especially after his relatively mindless war on terrorism.
Now, discrediting or, at the very least, expressing disappointment in the American president currently in office is one thing. I’m not at all happy with his efforts myself, truth be told. But insulting the entire American people, as we all too often tend to, judged by its president, isn’t just stupid, but downright unheard-of¹.
If you’re an American reading this, I hope you’re not offended. Make that I do, for you really should take offence. On the other hand though, it only goes to show who’s stupid. Which, of course, is duly corroborated by said PISA report. Norway’s figures probably would’ve plummeted (even more) if bloggers were included. Luckily they weren’t. Besides, it’s bad enough as is.
But how I love it when accusations bounce back like that.
¹ For which I extend my heartfelt apologies. Forgive them, for they know not what they do. After all, we are stupider than thou (according to the PISA report, anyway).
